 In the course of a career, there are often times we encounter people whose reactions seem far more extreme than the situation itself. Patients who become angry over simple requests, or are triggered by a question, or, worse yet, come into the office seemingly prepared to argue. While these people may not escalate into becoming physically threatening, they are disruptive to the office, frightening to other patients, and exhausting. There are tried and tested listening tools for de-escalating the mounting fire of anger while preserving your energy to be most effective. This webinar will present some of these tools, how they work psychologically, the requisite attitude for efficacy, and ways to work with staff to empower them to use these skills with patients, families, and visitors to the organization.
